SEPA and Crimestoppers Announce New Initiative
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and charity Crimestoppers have joined forces to tackle the persistent problem of environmental crime. A multi-agency approach is being taken with law enforcement partners, local authorities and industry experts to identify high risk sites and take appropriate action against businesses breaching current waste legislation.
WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment) is one of the fastest growing waste streams and is increasing at a rate three times that of average municipal waste growth. As such there are strict codes of practice and legislation in place to govern companies both in the disposal of and the collection and treatment for this type of waste.
