WEEE Recycling Christmas Advert
A big push for public awareness of WEEE recycling is to take place this Christmas season. A national TV advertising campaign on Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky TV has been organised and funded by an alliance of WEEE producer compliance schemes and recyclers. The WEEE Connect website has been set up by this alliance to inform the public about its aims, encourage future contributions and to allow you to see the details of the campaign and the message itself.
Raising public awareness is vital to encourage recycling and protect our environment and to ensure that the UK can meet its recycling targets as the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive means that from 2016 the UK has to achieve substantially higher collection rates of material than it currently does. TV advertising is an effective tool to raise awareness and public and business participation in these schemes. Be sure to do your part in preserving our environment and pass on this information to your family and friends. Make sure you recycle your computers and electronics and don't send them to landfill, especially over the Christmas period when new electronic and electrical household items or gadgets displace the old.
